Disclaimer: I am not a makeup guru. I didn’t really wear makeup until my mid-twenties and, if I’m being totally honest, I still feel like I don’t know how to properly put my face on.
It’s possible that my minimalist makeup is a result of being a novice. Or maybe it’s all those years my dad told me I didn’t need it. Either way, here’s what I own and why I wear it.
Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup: Why I still need to fight pimples in my thirties is beyond me? But, god, do I love this foundation. It gives coverage but goes on light. It somehow magically fights zee acne so that I only get one or two zits a month. It’s also fairly affordable given that it lasts about 6 months.
Hoola Matte Bronzer: Typically, I’m not loyal to products or brands but me and this bronzer go way back. Sure, it amuses my highschool girlfriends that I still have this product in my arsenal, but it’s all with reason! The color goes on natural and gives me that sun-kissed look. Plus, I’m a sucker for the packaging and the cute square-shaped brush.
Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick: Ahhhh, la rouge. Nothing makes me feel more Parisian than wearing an almost-bare face with lips in the perfect shade of red. This one is a miracle worker because it goes on matte and hardly ever wears off. I get the travel size because I only wear it for special events or the few times a year that this grandma goes out.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner: I only started wearing eyeliner because of Brigitte Bardot. Oui oui, my French obsession runs deep and I’ll do anything to feel that much more francaise. Just like the red lipstick, this eyeliner is only a fancy occasion thing. Although, like a good (almost) French Girl, I never wear the eyeliner and lipstick at the same time.
