How I Shop the 5 Cent Wine Sale at BevMo | Alyssa Pacaut

The 5 Cent Wine Sale is an ongoing promotion at BevMo where you buy one bottle at full price and get the second bottle for five cents. It’s basically a cleverly named two-for-one deal.

Since it’s super easy to give in the Siren’s Call of all those red tags, I’ve come up with a way to the shop the sale so that I come home with six bottles instead of 12, 24, or more. I call it the 10-20-30 rule.

Guide to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

March 5, 2018

Ocotillo in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park | Alyssa Pacaut

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is humongous and spans nearly 650,000 acres. It’s located just east of San Diego County and is home to about 600 or so desert bighorn sheep (aka borregos) that typically keep to the remote areas of the park.

Hop in your car and take to the many roads that crisscross the park. You’ll enjoy exploring the surprisingly diverse terrain from sweeping vistas and broad canyons to the random rock formations and alien-like plants dotting the open desert. It’s great place for a day trip or weekend camping adventure!

French Connections

French Connections | Alyssa Pacaut

What’s happening? What’s going on? What’s new? This year got off to a slow start because I got the death flu and was down for the count, but now that I’m healthy again we’re back in action!

I’ve been shopping at the farmer’s market (as evidenced above), drinking lots of wine with Arnaud, and am going to a compost workshop this weekend. I’m also very close to starting the wine club I keep mentioning and am dying to invite people over for dinner. You know, typically Alyssa things!

Anywho, here are some French-inspired links. I’m particular to the three part video series about french food and wine but that’s probably no surprise. Happy clicking!

Guide to Moorea, Tahiti

Belvedere Point in Moorea, Tahiti | Alyssa Pacaut

Moorea is a quiet, laid back island in French Polynesia that is just a hop and a skip away from the main island of Tahiti. Bright blue lagoon water, luscious jungle greenery, and the best seafood ever are just the tip of the iceberg in this tropical paradise.

There is plenty to do from snorkeling, diving, and kayaking to hiking, nature tours, or simply taking in the breathtaking views. The island caters well to tourists yet doesn’t feel touristy, which makes it a great destination for honeymooners, families, and everyone in between.

50 French Dishes | Alyssa Pacaut

Classic French cuisine will always have a special place in my heart. If not for the craft and tradition, then the focus on high quality ingredients and, well, all that butter.

And so, I present you with a list. A list of all lists, really. One that took a very long time to craft and cultivate. Any Francophile worth their salt is probably familiar with some of these dishes, but hopefully there are a few new ones that you can try out.

Connections #12 | Alyssa Pacaut

There is a used to be a running joke in our house about my Frenchness. Try a cheese and, boom, I’d be 62% French. Pick up a few French slang words, 71%. Striped shirt, 75%, and on and on. The jokes stopped at one point but my French obsession still continues albeit at a lower volume. Anyhow, here’s a bunch of links about things French people love like wining, dining, and looking chic as hell.
