Wine Review: Josh Cellars Rosé

Price: $9.99

Even though you can drink rosé all year long, there is nothing like a glass of the refreshing pink stuff in the summer. Josh Cellars has made a solid rosé that costs about $10 at Trader Joe’s and is an absolute joy to drink.

First, pour this rosé into the glass and admire it’s beautiful dark pink color. Then, inhale the fruity notes of strawberry and white peach with a lime edge. There is also a hint of green on the nose that I found to be like a crisp green apple but others defined as something more vegetal like a green bell pepper.

Taste-wise, it’s juicier than the super dry rosés from the Old World that I typically favor. It starts out on the sweeter side with hints of honey dew melon, apricot, and golden raspberries, but then quickly rounds out into a citrus-forward aftertaste. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy making it even more pleasant.

The bright yet agreeable acidity of this rosé would pair well with seafood like grilled salmon, steamed mussels, or even a clambake. You could also serve it along a simple green salad with goat cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette or an appetizer made with melon balls and mozzarella.

P.S. Other awesome rosés you can get at Trader Joe’s: Moonlight & Rosés Rosé, J.L. Quinson Côtes De Provence Rosé, and Les Portes de Bordeaux Rosé.
