Wine Review: Rebuttel Chardonnay

September 4, 2018

Wine: Rebuttel Chardonnay
Region: California
Retailer: Trader Joe’s
Price: $6.99

If a super buttery and oaky Chardonnay is NOT your thing, then I have got a Trader Joe’s wine for you. Rebuttel is the perfect, refreshing white wine to drink as you soak up the last days of summer.

No straw colored wine here, this sweet California baby is oh-so-pretty with its pale gold color in the glass. The nose is luscious and tropical with notes of coconut, pineapple, and a hit of lemon. There is also a subdued undernote of minerality with a floral edge.

When you take a sip, you’ll get a smack of mouthwatering acidity in the form of bright citrus flavors but that quickly turns fruity with notes of peaches and mangoes. The mouthfeel is full and round with a slightly dry finish of sweet caramel or crème brûlée (if you’re a Francophile like me).

This is a super versatile wine and can be paired with almost everything including Chinese takeout and Mexican food. Seafood is always a great option for a Chardonnay and the brightness of this one would go well with a creamy scallop risotto or pan-fried crab cakes. You could also serve it alongside hummus and pita chips, a leek and ham frittata, or a nutty cheese like a French Comté.

P.S. Check out this semi-effervescent vinho verde or just drink copious amounts of rosé from Trader Joe’s because summer.
